DiveStrong Canada is celebrating our First Anniversary! What a great year it has been.
We have enjoyed the opportunity to participate in educational workshops presented by PADI not only at PADI Headquarters, but also at DEMA in Florida. Information and hands-on experience that have contributed greatly to the success of our humble beginnings.
We also received expert instruction in Tec and Cenote diving when we traveled to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Our colleague Jorge Martinez Teran (our DiveStrong Mexico extension) of Fragata Divers - https://www.facebook.com/FragataDivers, has been diving, mapping and teaching in the cenotes in Mexico for years. It was a privilege to earn my Tec Instructor and Tec Sidemount Instructor ratings under Jorge's tutelage - not to mention being introduced to some pretty incredible cenote experiences. We will be back soon Jorge!
DiveStrong Canada enjoyed the opportunity of expanding our teaching waters from Canada to some very awesome tropical venues in Bonaire and Belize. This was new for me as an instructor - "Livin the Dream" in tropical environments! I started diving in 1995, teaching in 1998, and my first warm-water dive was in 2005! Teaching student divers entirely in warm water is an absolute thrill and pretty awesome I must say - I mean, hard to match a seahorse watching me teach people to blow bubbles underwater!
We also enjoyed our local dive sites - despite the difficulty caused by unusual flooding - and had fun introducing new diving specialties to our local divers. Search and Recovery diving takes on appropriate significance when the environment has 5 feet or less of visibility. Tec diver student skills are definitely honed when the silt was as easily stirred as it was this past dive season!
Dive Travel has been a huge success and we are looking forward to year number two traveling with our clients, meeting their requests for dive instruction (beginner to professional) in a number of venues and networking and visiting with our colleagues.
Thank you everyone for your support and assistance - year number one has been fantastic!
Dive Safe and Dive Strong!
Sincerely,
Lana and Randy
